Take your vacation home (or vice-versa) with Visionbedding.com

Sometimes kids don't make the best travelers ... in spite of all the excitement and fun the family tries to pack into every day, some little travelers just miss the familiarity and comfort of home. Often no time is more traumatic than trying to get to sleep at night in an unfamiliar bed. Consider purchasing Kids Bedding that uniquely fits your child's personality and making it a part of his comfortable surroundings, and then packing the special bedding for travel in order to help alleviate homesickness.

Other kids sometimes have the opposite problem -- they enjoy travel so much they never want to go home! These kids can relive a little of their vacation excitement by transforming a photo of the family vacation or a special photo of your destination into a personalized blanket or throw to snuggle under and relive those glorious family times as they drift off to sleep.

Either way, taking home on vacation or taking vacation back home with you, specialty bedding can help ease the transition.

Keep enjoying your Vacation ...

Wouldn't you love to keep enjoying your vacation even after it's over? That's what photos are for! Digital cameras are great for taking your vacation photos because you can instantly see if you got the shot of that scenery you want to always remember, and you won't have to face the disappointment of later finding that the print was underexposed, or your thumb blocked out the palm tree that framed your shot so perfectly. Be sure to buy extra memory cards before you go, so you don't have to face the problem of deciding which shots to delete so you can take more.

And there's an innovative product that allows you to continually enjoy the tranquil beach and sunset shots, or remember the thrill of more exotic destinations. Now you can download your photos from your memory card directly into a digital photo frame and view an ever-changing slideshow of images from your adventure.

You can also add music to further enjoy the photos in your digital picture frame, or even play movie clips taken with your digital camera.

Digital frames are especially brilliant additions to your office. Not only can you decrease your stress levels by enjoying constant reminders of more tranquil days but their eyecatching and avant-garde presence makes a great ice-breaker for meeting clients or other important people. If you put your vacation to work for you, you might even be able to use it as a tax write-off next year!

Hotel Accommodation News

Gadgetry is the new buzz in hotel accommodation news, and Guestroom 2010 is the project underway that offers a view into hotel rooms of the future. Imagine picking up the remote, pushing a button, and watching your window instantly transform into "privacy" glass. No more heavy curtains to drag along and then have to pin closed to get rid of the gap! Or say you need to go into the bathroom during and you don't want to miss a minute of the big game on tv? No problem ... the bathroom mirror has television capabilities! Read about these and many other unique accommodation updates by viewing Guestroom Worthy of a Guest.

Read a variety of other interesting accommodation stories and travel information news, everything from Top Destinations for Uni Grads to recommendations for some of the Best Airports for Shopping.

I can also personally vouch from experience for the usefulness of some of the suggestions given for keeping kids quiet during travel, at least the part about DVD players. I have had to make a lot of cross-country drives with a very active toddler and preschooler who did NOT like being in the car, and I found the backseat tv monitor to be indispensable for keeping children entertained, happy and -- most importantly -- not complaining during those long automobile trips.

News of Asia

We sometimes blog about other blogs, and we found an interesting choice this week. Asia hotel news features some interesting tidbits about one of our favorite travel destinations.

Best Beaches in Asia offers photographs of beaches in Bali, the Philippines, Thailand, and the Maldives, as well as information varying from the relative privacy offered, local government, flora and fauna, scenery, local culture, transportation, and more.

Read about Strange Cultural Habits in China, including the arrangements according to the concept of feng shui, how people are named and how they should properly (and politely!) be addressed, and and the tradition of binding girls' feet.

Did you know that The Largest Attraction in the World is the Great Wall of China? Or that of the Three Cheapest Cities for Shopaholics, two are in Asia? (They are Bangkok and Hong Kong.) You can also read about The 5 weirdest things Chinese people eat. (I'm not going to list them for you, you can go to the site and read for yourself!)

For general news from Asia, and Asia hotel news, this blog has an interesting point of view!

UK Family Vacation

Travel in the UK includes some of the best holiday destinations for families, and as a homeschooling family, we are always on the lookout for educational and fun opportunities for enjoyment for the entire family.

The city of Birmingham includes one of the most outstanding finds with Thinktank, a modern and interactive science museum where science and enterainment merge in ten themed galleries allowing visitors to investigate everything from 1001 inventions to recycling to natural science. Thinktank features its own IMAX theatre, Planetarium, Lego lab, and more. Plan to stay several days in Birmingham in order to allow time to visit the award-winning National Sea Life Centre, a four level landscaped attraction tracing a journey from a freshwater river's source to its destination in the Pacific Ocean with more than 60 displays of freshwater and ocean life. View sea turtles, sharks, reef fish, and more in the world's first 360 degree underwater walk-through tunnel and one million litre ocean tank. Visit the special Seahorse Breeding and Conservation Centre and exhibits of animals from around the world. Be sure to check current offerings at the National Exhibition Centre and visit the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. Unique opportunities to explore include the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter where guests can view the historical processes of jewellery making, and Cadbury World where visitors can experience the history and making of Cadbury Chocolate as well as create their own unique chocolate combinations, "grow" cocoa beans, and view themselves moulded in chocolate.

Save money on booking hotels in Birmingham by checking for last minute and year round deals. We found the amazingly good deal of GBP 10 for the 3-star rated Quality Hotel which allows children 14 and under to stay for free, accommodates pets, offers sauna, spa, swimming pool, gym/fitness center, internet access, onsite restaurant, and more.

Manchester is another outstanding destination for family travel in the UK. Manchester boasts its own Museum of Science and Industry which offers hands-on galleries and exhibits, working machinery from historical periods, and revolving Special Exhibitions. Visit the Lowry to experience arts and entertainment in the two theatres while the gallery showcases exhibitions of LS Lowry and other artists. Also visit the Manchester Art Gallery. The Imperial War Museum North is a thought-provoking look at how conflict has shaped the lives of humans and includes interactive elements allowing visitors to experience war first-hand. Urbis is a unique and dynamic exploration of city life, featuring cities around the world and offering insights into the culture of modern cities by exploring architecture, design, music, graffiti, and the urban environment.

When searching for hotels in Manchester, we found the charming Swallow Bower Hotel, a 3-star offering from only GBP 36, which also allows children (12 and under) to stay free and boasts the Sheridan restaurant which is an education and experience in its own right, offering such unique culinary experiences such as cajun-spiced shark and a variety of traditional dishes, including steak pie and much more.

London, of course, is the crown jewel of a UK vacation, with more historic and cultural attractions and places to visit than space allows here. A few of the must-see destinations include The Tower of London, the magnificent architecture of Greenwich, Kew gardens which are among the finest public gardens in the world, the singular adventure of Dali Universe, the pageantry of Kensington Palance State Apartments, the art complex of South Bank, the unique experiences of the London Dungeon and Madame Tussauds and the London Planetarium.

which is an adult-only hostel frequented by backpackers and is a great meeting place for travelers. Although children are not allowed, this hostel is a great value and we wanted to mention it here. Family hotels in more luxurious accommodations are offered at a great value at the 4-star A search of hotels in London yielded a budget offering of only GPB10 at the Generator LondonSheraton Skyline Hotel London from only GBP 65. The Sky Garden features an indoor swimming pool surrounded by a tropical garden, internet access, child sitting services, guest laundry, gym and fitness center, on-site restaurant, and allows pets.

While searching for hotels in the UK, be sure to check the last-minute deals as well as special year round prices. While researching for our post, the entries changed and the 4-star in London became available for GBP 7 less than the hotel we had planned to review. Prices change frequently, so when you find a great price at a hotel that meets your needs, be sure to book during the specials offered before the rooms are all taken.
