When recently on the Gold Coast we managed to find some affordable accommodation but the attractions and 'adventure' activities take their toll on the budget. Sydney was the opposite in that the attractions are not so expensive but it's harder to find cheap accommodation. But regardless, with the Australian dollar so low at the moment it is a good value desination for overseas travellers.
